The Center Foundation’s High Desert Hero is an honors program that recognizes outstanding high school seniors. Each month, one Central Oregon senior is selected by the Board of Directors to be the High Desert Hero and is honored with a $100.00 scholarship, a $25.00 gift certificate, and a medallion presented at their school. The winner will also be highlighted on the radio stations of Horizon Broadcasting Group, COTV and Good Morning Central Oregon. To qualify students must have a 3.5 or high GPA, demonstrate leadership in his/her school and be actively involved in community volunteer work. All High Desert Hero winners are eligible to compete for the prestigious $5,000 William K. Worrell scholarship to be awarded at the May 6, 2009 Scholarship Awards Dinner presented by Connie Worrell-Druliner.
