ROTARY “DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS” RAISES $14,000!
(Prineville, OR) – The Crook County/Prineville Rotary generated $14,000 in contributions to its 11th annual “Dollars for Scholars” Radiothon, which was broadcast on AM 690 KRCO Country on Friday, March 31, 2006. The all day radio broadcast (6 am to 6 pm) featured local Rotarians reading advertisements for local businesses and song requests for listeners who contributed to the Rotary Scholarship fund. The fund benefits Crook County High School students who seek to continue their education.
KRCO-AM contributed the air time to make the Radiothon possible, as it has since 1996. The station celebrated its 56th year of service to Prineville and Crook County on February 1st.
“Once again the “Rotary Dollars for Scholars” Radiothon has been a tremendous success,” said Von Thompson, President of the Crook County/Prineville Rotary Club. “We raised over $12,000 and provided eight scholarships in 2005. We increased contributions to $14,000 this year which translates into several scholarships for Crook County High School students.”
“We would like to thank KRCO Radio, and everyone – all of the businesses and individuals - who donated. It’s evidence once again of the great community we all like to call home,” added Thompson.
KRCO Program Director and morning host Dave Clemens hosted the Rotary Dollars for Scholars Radiothon, along with KRCO afternoon host Bruce Cannon.
