LAZER 96-5 ADOPTS A CLASSIC ROCK FORMAT
LAZER 96-5 (KWLZ-FM) adopted a Classic Rock format Saturday. Continuous Classic Rock - LAZER 96-5 began broadcasting the Classic Rock "A to Z" library at sign on.
LAZER 96-5 will feature The Bob and Tom Show in morning drive (6 - 10 am) and Continuous Classic Rock all day. "LAZER 96-5 features the nation's best performing morning show for the Classic Rock format. After the Bob and Tom Show, we'll only stop the music twice an hour, and we'll play a minimum of 52 minutes of Classic Rock music every hour on LAZER 96-5," said Keith Shipman, President & CEO of Horizon Broadcasting Group, the owner of LAZER 96-5. "We amended the format of LAZER 96-5 to serve the growing number of listeners who want more music and fewer commercials from their favorite rock radio format."
Legendary Classic Rock artist Alice Cooper will host the weekday evening show from 7 pm to Midnight.
LAZER 96-5's new program lineup features: The Bob and Tom Show (6 am - 10 am); Scott Mason (10 am - 3 pm); Guest Hosts (3 pm - 7 pm) and Alice Cooper (7 pm - Midnight).
Core artists for the LAZER 96-5 Classic Rock format include The Rolling Stones, Les Zeppelin, The Doors, Aerosmith, Tom Petty and Bad Company.
Featured weekend programming will include the "Superstar Concert Series" (7 pm Saturday), "The Classics with Steve Downes" (8 am Sunday) and "Off the Record with Joe Benson" (10 am Sunday).
LAZER 96-5 (KWLZ-FM) has a 100,000-watt signal that covers all of Central Oregon. The station formerly broadcast an Active Rock format.
Horizon Broadcasting Group, LLC owns or operates (through a Joint Sales Agreement) five radio stations. HBG's stations in Central Oregon include KQAK-FM (105.7 mhz, Oldies), KLTW-FM (95.1 mhz, Soft Adult Contemporary), KWLZ-FM (96.5 mhz, Classic Rock), KRCO-AM (690 khz, Classic Country) and KWPK-FM (104.1 mhz, Hot AC/JSA with Thunderegg Wireless, LLC).
