MIKE FICHER NAMED KRCO’S VOICE OF CROOK COUNTY HS SPORTS
(Bend, OR) – Mike Ficher has been named play-by-play voice of Crook County High School sports for KRCO-AM. KRCO-AM has broadcast Crook County High School football for the past 57 years.
Ficher has worked with Horizon Broadcasting Group as a vacation relief news announcer for two years. He is on the Board of Directors for KPOV-FM (Bend’s low power FM station) and is instrumental in its music and sports programming. Ficher is a financial analyst with Edge Wireless.
He replaces Paul Valle, who resigned to pursue a broadcasting opportunity on the east coast.
KRCO-AM carries approximately 150 sports events per year (Crook County High School, Oregon State University football and men’s basketball and Portland Trailblazers basketball). Local newscasts appear on the hour on KRCO-AM from 6 am – 6 pm Monday through Friday. KRCO-AM also features a 30 minute news block at 5 pm Monday through Friday, and Paul Harvey News and Comment three times daily.
Horizon Broadcasting Group, LLC owns and operates five radio stations in Central Oregon. HBG’s stations in Central Oregon include KQAK-FM (105.7, Oldies), KWPK-FM (THE PEAK 104.1, Hot Adult Contemporary), KLTW-FM (LITE 95.1, Soft Adult Contemporary), KWLZ-FM (LAZER 96.5, Classic Rock) and KRCO-AM (690 khz, Classic Country).
