ROTARY “DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS” RAISES $17,500!
(Prineville, OR) – The Crook County/Prineville Rotary generated $17,500 in contributions to its 12th annual “Dollars for Scholars” Radiothon, which was broadcast on AM 690 KRCO Country on Monday, April 2, 2007. The day-long radio broadcast (6 am to 6 pm) originated from the Remington Ranch office in downtown Prineville, and featured local Rotarians reading advertisements for local businesses and song requests for listeners who contributed to the Rotary Scholarship fund. The fund benefits Crook County High School students who seek to further their education.
KRCO-AM contributed the airtime to make the Radiothon possible, as it has since 1996. The station celebrated its 57th year of service to Prineville and Crook County on February 1st.
“We have a great community that has chipped in again to make Rotary Dollars for Scholars a success,” said Steve Swisher, President of the Crook County/Prineville Rotary Club. “We thank all of the businesses and citizens of Prineville and Crook County who contributed to provide scholarships to all of the students looking to further their education.”
“We especially appreciate Remington Ranch and Horizon Broadcasting Group (KRCO-AM) for their participation, as they helped us raise the bar this year,” added Swisher. To date, the Rotary Dollars for Scholars program has raised over $100,000 to benefit Crook County students.
KRCO Program Director and morning host “Big Roy” Lamela hosted the Rotary Dollars for Scholars Radiothon, along with KRCO midday host Bruce Cannon and afternoon host Dave Clemens.
